Classical Riding Tours
The Warneyswhip classical riding tour is a culmination of the last 15 years of my life. I moved to Portugal in 2009 and fell in love with the Lusitano horse and the Portuguese classical trainers. I competed internationally on my lusitano Stallion Batialo across Europe, and during this time I was lucky enough to meet and have lessons with some of the best classical masters and horse people in the world.
The tours were originally supposed to begin in 2019 and we did a few but with Covid everything was stalled. Kicking off again at the beginning of this year the tours have so far been a huge success, and we hope to grow on this into the future and continue to give classical riders and their family a unique riding and cultural experience.
The group members so far have all been so incredibly positive about their experience, with feedback like “best lesson of my life”, and “most memorable day of my life”, it feels like we are getting it right!
The thing that is unique about the tour is that you get to have lessons and seminars with the best in the country on horses in training with them. So often people pay to go to the other side of the world to ride school horses with average trainers. If you want to go on an adventure why not do it with the best classical masters in the world!
The tour runs over ten days, with groups of 6 people maximum to ensure we can cater for each person individually and provide enough private lessons. Alternatively you can create your own group of horsey friends and we can fit it in with the best time of year for you, and design a tour for your group and interests.
Below are the dates for 2024 & 2025 tours, with detailed info about itinerary, lessons, activities, accommodation, transport and also feedback from our past Tours. We aim to run a four set tours a year, with additional special tours running according to group requests. We have also run private individual tours, or shorter/longer tours to cater for specific events or group schedules. Either join in one of the tours below, or design your own!
Below is a published article that featured in Equestrian Life magazine Australia, written by one of the tour participants in 2023. It gives a really great insight into the running of the tour and what a unique opportunity it is.
